Thursday, October 21st, 2010

While constructing your house if you want to cut down expenses, go for framing the entire interior non-bearing walls. All depends on proper planning and correct layout.

Some important tips are:

a. Alignment of plates: Top and bottom plates of any wall should be laid out together in a line.

b. Proper nomenclature to framing: Stud locations should be marked with (X) or (/) and trimmers with a T, cripples with an O.

c. Window and door sizes should be double checked: Before framing the walls the sizes should be straightened.

d. Studs with Gang cut: A 8 foot standard wall can be framed with 92 5/8 inch pre-cut studs.

e. Nails should be used properly: Avoid using more nails as it weakens the joint.

f. Brace, line and plumb: All the walls need to be properly checked for plumb, lined (straightness) and braced. So, if you are looking to build a new house be creative and ensure the proper wall framing.
